Vidullanka PLC announced the commissioning of the 3 MW solar plant, constructed by its subsidiary Vidul Matara Solar Power Ltd. on Friday, 19 September. The new plant holds an installed capacity of 3 MW with the ability to export approximately 5.5 GWh of clean energy annually to the national grid.
This milestone brings Vidullanka’s total portfolio to 24 operational power plants with a combined installed capacity of 66 MW, further contributing to the achievement of the nation’s renewable energy targets.
The completion of this plant marks the first project concluded as per the 9MW awarded to the group through the CEB’s 70MW tender. This brings Vidullanka’s total solar plants commissioned for the year to a total of 3 with a cumulative capacity of 15MW, all commissioned within the span of three months. In addition, the group has a fourth solar project currently under development.
