Vidullanka PLC has announced the acquisition of a 100% equity stake in Bhoruka Power Lanka Ltd., which owns and operates the 4.5 MW Gurugoda mini hydro power plant situated in Aranayake, Sri Lanka.
This latest addition serves as the company’s 12th mini hydro project, bringing the company’s portfolio to a total of 26 power projects.
This strategic acquisition is one of the company’s numerous investments in expanding and diversifying its energy services. In the last financial year alone, Vidullanka has commissioned 4 ground mounted solar plants, and won a tender for a 50 MW wind project and a 10 MW Battery Energy Storage Solutions project. The company also acquired a 30% equity stake in SAFE Power International Ltd., securing the licence to build a 10 MW wind power facility. These efforts to expand its project portfolio is a testament to Vidullanka’s commitment to bolstering energy security in Sri Lanka while offering innovative solutions to the energy crisis.
Vidullanka said it continues to build on its success in its investments overseas, having concluded its landmark EPC contract with the Guyana Energy Agency and recently emerging as the lowest cost bidder for a mini hydropower facility in Fiji. The company has also set foot in other lucrative energy markets across the globe, setting a steady pace to become a foremost energy solutions provider.
With the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the fossil fuel industry, the shift to renewable energy has become more crucial than ever. As a pioneering energy company, Vidullanka’s goal is to diminish the reliance on harmful fossil fuels and enhance energy security through innovative solutions. The company is committed to driving a green future that serves the planet and our communities.
