The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka is set to host an exclusive Bilateral Trade and Investment Session with the gracious presence of Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Sri Lanka Khaled Nasser Al Ameri, on Tuesday, 1 July, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium, No. 450, D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo 10.

This exclusive event will explore opportunities for the Sri Lankan business community to directly engage with the UAE Ambassador and gain firsthand insights into the UAE’s trade policies, investment climate, and the growing scope for bilateral collaboration. The Ambassador will highlight key areas of economic cooperation and discuss emerging sectors that offer potential for Sri Lankan businesses to explore.

We are also honoured to mention that Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to UAE Prof. Arusha Cooray is expected to join the session virtually to provide further perspectives on bilateral economic engagement.

Sri Lanka’s major exports to UAE:

Tea in bulk and packet, garments and apparel, fuel oil, diamonds, cocoa and cocoa preparations, coconut milk powder, desiccated coconut, miscellaneous edible preparations, beverages, spirits, and vinegar, bananas, including plantains, fresh or dried, melons and papayas, pneumatic and retreated rubber tyres and tubes, man-made staple fibres, electrical and electronic products, crustaceans, whether in shell or not, live, fresh, chilled, frozen, dried, salted, precious metal jewellery.

Sri Lanka’s major imports from UAE:

Petroleum oils (Crude and Refined), fuel oil, white crystalline cane sugar, fish (dried, salted, smoked), portland cement, aluminous cement, slag cement, super sulphate cement, and similar hydraulic cement, fertilizers, aluminium, iron and steel, copper, mineral products, plastics knitted fabrics, air-condition machines, fruits (dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes, and mangosteens, fresh or dried), cereals and its products, paper and paper products, electrical and electronic products, paints, varnishes and dyeing extracts, perfumes, cosmetics, shampoos and makeup preparations, diamonds.

With the UAE recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s key trading partners in the Middle East, this forum is expected to serve as a strategic platform to unlock new opportunities for trade diversification and investment growth.
