UK Trade Envoy Lord Hannett of Everton and British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Andrew Patrick yesterday met with Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Minister Sunil Handunneththi to discuss measures aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties.
According to the British High Commission in Colombo, discussions focused on enhancing utilisation of the United Kingdom’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), which provides zero-tariff access for a wide range of Sri Lankan exports to the UK market.
The meeting also explored ways to deepen commercial engagement between the two countries and expand opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters.
The British High Commission said both sides underscored the importance of maintaining a transparent and predictable business environment to strengthen investor confidence and support long-term economic partnerships.
The discussions come as Sri Lanka seeks to expand export earnings and attract greater foreign investment amid ongoing economic recovery efforts.
