One of Sri Lanka’s top banking personalities Delvin Pereira has been appointed as the Governor of Rotary Sri Lanka and Maldives for the year 2025/26.

An outstanding corporate professional with 37 years of excellence in the banking and financial services sector he was appointed to lead Rotary uncontested. His depth of service, vision, and character were the key characteristics that led to the Rotary community selecting Delvin Pereira to the top position of the most admired service organisation globally.

Starting his banking career at Commercial Bank, he went to become the Deputy General Manager of Seylan Bank and now serves as a Director at Amana Bank. His leadership span has been across functional areas such as trade finance, SME lending, retail banking and risk management.

An alumnus of St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy, he holds a Certified Management Accountant (Australia) qualification and an MBA from the University of Western Sydney. His international training in India, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines has deepened his expertise—especially in supporting the SME sector, to which he remains passionately committed as a mentor and advisor.

Delvin Perera’s Rotary journey is a testament to unwavering commitment and leadership through service. His beginnings were as a charter member of the Rotaract Club of Kandy, eventually leading him to joining the Rotary Club of Matale in 1996 and today an active and inspiring member of the Rotary Club of Moratuwa.

Throughout his Rotary career, Delvin has held key leadership roles—Club President, Secretary, and Chair of multiple committees including Vocational Service, Community Service, Club Administration, and The Rotary Foundation. His service has extended far beyond the club level. At the District level, he has chaired the President Elects Training (PRTS), the District Conference and District Interact Chair. He has also given leadership to the Membership Development Committee Chair. During his tenure he served two terms as Assistant Governor, earning widespread recognition for his dedication and achievement drive personality.

Rotarian Delvin is ably supported by his wife, Rtn. Lucille Pereira—a fellow Rotarian, former banker, and professional vocal trainer. Together, they have raised two remarkable daughters—Melissa, a Chartered Marketer and pianist with a degree in Business and Finance from the University of Colombo, and Lozaine, who holds a degree from the University of Westminster in Management and IT, and a Master’s in Film Production from the University for the Creative Arts, UK.

He takes on the mantle Governor – Sri Lanka and Maldives on the Rotary’s values of ‘Service Above Self’. Supporting the economic development agenda focusing on SME’s will be a key priority due his 37 years banking experience.
