Suresh Shah assumes office as HNB Chairman

Suresh Shah has assumed office as Chairman of the Board of Hatton National Bank PLC from yesterday.

Prior to the appointment he was an Independent Non-Executive of the bank.

Shah is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. His experience includes serving as CEO of two listed entities, extensive involvement in economic and related matters through trade chambers and employer organisations and leading Government SOE reforms.

Shah is the Chairman, Independent/Non-Executive Director of Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC and a Non-Executive Director of Carson Cumberbatch PLC and The Hill Club Company Ltd. and also Executive Director of Natures Trail Ltd, and Director/CEO Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC and Lion Brewery Ceylon PLC, a position he held for 30 years.

He has also served on several other boards in both executive and non-executive capacities including at Hunter and Co PLC, Lanka Canneries Ltd. and Bukit Darah PLC. He was the Chairman of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and of The Employers Federation of Ceylon, a Commissioner of The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, a Council Member of the University of Moratuwa and head of the State-owned Enterprise Restructuring Unit of the Government of Sri Lanka.
