Sri Lanka woos South Indian investors

In view of enhancing awareness of trade and investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka, the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai together with Southern India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI) organised “Doing business with Sri Lanka” business discussion on 20 December 2022 at SICCI auditorium in Chennai.

Addressing the meeting, SICCI President Ar Rm Arun and Secretary Vinod Solomon warmly welcomed the Deputy High Commissioner and highlighted the long-standing bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and India.

Sri Lanka Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai Dr. Venkateshwaran highlighted potential investment avenues available in Sri Lanka, and facilities and incentives being provided by the Government to foreign traders and investors. He invited an investor delegation to Sri Lanka next year.

The event was followed by an interactive session which was attended by 30 well established traders and investors from various business and investment sectors in South India such as renewable energy, textiles, pharmaceutical, automobile, electronic and IT/BPO.

The SICCI, which has completed 100 years of excellence and enterprise in service to the southern region of the nation, is one of the oldest, largest and prestigious institutions in India.
