Sri Lanka’s property sector will come under the spotlight next month as the Research Intelligence Unit (RIUNIT) hosts a high-level forum titled ‘Driving Growth Through Real Estate: 10 Year Plan’, bringing together key stakeholders from across investment, policy, and urban development. Scheduled for 5 May from 2:30 p.m. at the Sales Gallery in Port City Colombo, the event aims to map out the sector’s trajectory over the next decade, against the backdrop of evolving economic conditions and Sri Lanka’s long-term urban ambitions.

The forum is the first in a series of planned sessions under RIUNIT’s 10-year real estate roadmap —and the agenda is as ambitious as the moment demands. Discussions will cover how Sri Lanka can claim a larger share of global real estate investment, how Port City can be positioned as a genuine investment magnet, and what a people-first approach to residential real estate might actually look like in practice.

“This isn’t just another industry conference,” said RIUNIT Founder and CEO Roshan Madawela. “We want this to be the beginning of a structured, long-term plan that seeks to establish Sri Lanka as a leading international real estate investment destination that will attract a significant share of the

estimated $ 1 trillion of institutional real estate investment in 2026”. He added that “the conversation also needs to address the challenge of providing affordable housing for all as part of an integrated national strategy.”

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, has been invited as the Chief Guest.

The panel consists of Prime Group Co-Founder/Group Chairman Premalal Brahmanage, Home Lands Group Executive Director Amaya Herath, ICC Managing Director Namal Pieris, Capital Trust Properties Ltd. Chairperson/CEO Minoli Wickramasinghe, Colombo Port City Economic Commission Director General Revan Wickramasuriya, RIL Properties PLC CEO/Executive Director Hiroshini Fernando, Tudawe Brothers CEO/Director Romali Tudawe, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Executive Director Priyanka Samaraweera and Crystal Property Group Ltd. Director/CEO Reza Magdon-Ismail.

The sessions will be moderated by RIUNIT Founder and CEO Roshan Madawela and RIUNIT Senior Consultant Dr. Anil Priyanka, with RIUNIT Advisory Board Member and Kahawita De Silva & Associates Chartered Architect/Managing Partner Nilesh De Silva is also joining as a key moderator.

The afternoon will blend presentations, panel discussions, and open audience engagement, wrapping up with a networking session complete with drinks and refreshments. Attendees will include industry stakeholders, local and international investors, developers, business leaders, bankers, and diplomats — making it as much about the conversations in the hallway as those on stage. The event is supported by sponsors Colombo Port City Economic Commission, International Construction Consortium (ICC), Prime Group, and Home Lands Group.
