Sri Lanka’s brightest young innovators to be honoured at Soorya Youth Top40 Awards 2025

The nation is gearing up to celebrate the remarkable achievements of its young leaders at the Youth Top40 Awards 2025, organised by New Generation Sri Lanka and ignited by Soorya. The prestigious ceremony will take place on 12 June, at Shangri-La Colombo, spotlighting 40 exceptional young Sri Lankans who have made significant contributions across a wide range of fields.

The annual Youth Top40 Awards have grown into a national symbol of youth excellence, recognising individuals whose passion, innovation and service are shaping Sri Lanka’s future. Backed since its inception by Soorya, a beloved Sri Lankan household brand, the awards celebrate not just talent, but the values and cultural legacy that guide these young leaders.

New Generation Sri Lanka Founder Dr. Sulochana Segera said, “The Youth Top40 Awards are about more than just accolades. This year, we received over 280 nominations from across the island, showcasing the incredible potential and diversity of Sri Lankan youth. These awards serve as a platform to inspire and nurture leadership rooted in compassion, character, and courage. Our goal is to build a future where local values align with a global vision.”

The 2025 edition introduces a new partnership initiative between Soorya and the award winners focused on personality development and mental wellbeing. Organisers say the goal is to support young people in developing the emotional intelligence and life skills needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world.

The award ceremony will recognise young achievers across diverse categories, including:  Entrepreneurship;  Social impact;  Artificial Intelligence and digital innovation; Arts, music and culture; Startups and business innovation; Engineering and technology;  School leadership; Climate action; Professional careers; Sports excellence; Creative thinking and Community leadership.

University of Kelaniya Head of Marketing and Chair of the Panel of Judges Prof. Ravi Dissanayake emphasised the integrity and inclusivity of the selection process.

“We are not just rewarding success but honouring authenticity, social value and personal growth,” he said.

New Generation Sri Lanka Chairman Dr. Dilmika Srimal underscored the importance of the event in the current socio-economic climate.

“In times of uncertainty, this award is a beacon for youth. It validates their potential and connects them across industries, ideologies and dreams,” he stated.
