Sri Lanka showcased its renowned gem and jewellery industry at the 74th Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair, held from 8 to 12 September 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok, with a Sri Lankan Pavilion comprising 72 booths.
The increased participation provided a valuable platform for Sri Lankan gem and jewellery exporters to showcase their products, establish business connections, and explore new opportunities in Thailand and international markets.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok coordinated and facilitated Sri Lanka’s participation in the Fair, in collaboration with relevant Thai authorities. The Sri Lankan Pavilion was inaugurated by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, marking the official commencement of Sri Lanka’s participation at the exhibition.
Thailand remains Sri Lanka’s leading export destination for precious and semi-precious stones, accounting for more than 50 per cent of Sri Lanka’s exports in this sector. Sri Lanka’s participation in the Fair therefore holds particular significance in strengthening bilateral trade relations and expanding market opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters.
The expanded presence at the Fair reflects the continued efforts to promote Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery sector, deepen trade and investment relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand, and support Sri Lankan businesses in accessing international markets.
The Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair is one of the world’s leading international trade exhibitions for the gem and jewellery industry, bringing together manufacturers, exporters, buyers, and industry professionals from across the globe. Sri Lanka’s participation further reinforced its engagement with the international gem and jewellery trade and highlighted the country’s reputation for high-quality gemstones and jewellery.
