Sierra Cables PLC is not simply reporting a strong nine-month performance. It is demonstrating the power of focus — on quality, credibility, and global competitiveness.
For the nine months ended 2025, the company delivered results that reinforce its leadership in Sri Lanka’s cable manufacturing industry while steadily expanding its global footprint. Revenue reached Rs. 12 billion, a 68% increase over Rs. 7 billion recorded during the same period in 2024. Gross profit rose by 66% to Rs. 3.1 billion. Profit from operations increased 70% to Rs. 2.5 billion. While profit for the period more than doubled to Rs. 2.1 billion, reflecting a 105% increase. Earnings per share rose from Rs. 1.89 to Rs. 3.88, reinforcing the company’s ability to deliver meaningful value to shareholders.
Even as the company expanded rapidly, financial discipline remained a priority. Net finance costs declined by 29% to Rs. 101 million, supported by prudent capital management and exchange gains generated through export growth.
This performance is not a short-term surge; it reflects a fundamental structural shift in the company’s operating, strategic, and governance framework. Sierra Cables PLC became an associate of Browns Investments in 2022 and subsequently a subsidiary in 2025, coming under the direct management and guidance of Browns Investments. Since this transition, the company has delivered a strong financial resurgence. By the end of the third quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, profitability had increased nearly fourfold compared to 2022 levels, while turnover expanded from Rs. 8 billion to over Rs. 12 billion within the first nine months of the 2025/26 financial year, underscoring the sustained impact of enhanced governance, disciplined execution, and strategic oversight.
Behind this momentum is leadership with clarity of purpose. Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Harsha Jayatunga has steered Sierra Cables through a period of transformation, positioning the company as a globally competitive manufacturer aligned with international standards. In doing so, he has acknowledged the role of Chairman Ishara Nanayakkara, whose strategic guidance and long-term vision continue to shape the organisation’s direction.
Reflecting on the company’s performance, Jayatunga noted that the results represent more than financial growth. They demonstrate the strength of a strategy built on uncompromising quality, global compliance standards and continuous innovation. The Sierra brand today stands recognised across international markets where technical credibility and consistency are essential.
That credibility has also been acknowledged by independent institutions. Fitch Ratings has continued to affirm Sierra Cables’ A+ (lka) national long-term rating with a stable outlook. The rating reflects strong governance practices, consistent cash flow generation, prudent leverage management and a solid market position.
In global manufacturing, trust is earned through standards. Sierra Cables holds a distinction that no other Sri Lankan cable manufacturer can claim — certification to the UL 44 standard. This globally recognised certification confirms that Sierra’s products meet the stringent safety and performance requirements demanded by highly regulated international markets. It is also the reason Sierra remains the only Sri Lankan cable manufacturer successfully supplying the United States market, widely regarded as one of the most demanding cable markets in the world.
This milestone carries implications beyond exports. It validates the same manufacturing standards applied to cables supplied to the Sri Lankan market, providing local customers with products that meet international benchmarks.
Export excellence has also been recognised formally. At the Export Awards organised by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka, Sierra Cables was named Best Sri Lankan Brand Exporter and received the Gold Award in the Large Category under the Electronic and Electrical Products Sector. The recognition reflects the Company’s manufacturing capabilities and its ability to consistently meet international quality requirements across multiple regions.
Sierra’s growth trajectory is rooted in deliberate strategy. The Company has expanded its export portfolio by entering and sustaining business in demanding global markets while strengthening its dealer network across Sri Lanka to deepen domestic market presence. At the same time, it continues to invest in modern manufacturing technologies, automation and precision engineering to improve efficiency and reliability. Warehouse expansion currently underway further enhances logistics capabilities and ensures the organisation is equipped to respond to growing demand across both local and export markets.
Research and development are central to Sierra Cables’ long-term vision. The company is introducing specialized cable solutions to meet evolving infrastructure and energy needs, including products for renewable energy systems and high-performance cables for modern construction and industrial applications.
Sierra Cables’ manufacturing strength ensures safety and reliability. The company produces flame-retardant and fire-resistant cables for both domestic and international markets, designed to minimise flame propagation and maintain circuit integrity in critical infrastructure such as hospitals, airports, high-rise buildings, and commercial complexes.
Manufactured in accordance with UL 44 standards and meeting internationally recognised fire-safety ratings, Sierra Cables integrates advanced materials with rigorous quality controls to ensure full compliance, enhanced safety, and consistently dependable performance.
Supporting these capabilities is a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility complemented by a high-end in-house laboratory designed to conduct rigorous electrical, mechanical and fire-performance testing. The laboratory validates raw materials, semi-finished products and finished cables before dispatch, ensuring compliance with both national and international standards. Specialised testing facilities allow Sierra to conduct vertical flame propagation testing for individual and bunched cables, measure smoke density and analyse corrosive gas emissions. Fire-resistance testing is also conducted under combined fire, water and mechanical shock conditions in accordance with BS 6387, verifying a cable’s ability to maintain circuit integrity in extreme emergency scenarios.
Beyond manufacturing excellence, Sierra Cables PLC continues to expand its international reach. The Company’s growing global footprint is supported by Browns Manufacturing Ltd in Zambia and associate operations in Fiji through Cables PTE Ltd., strengthening its ability to serve regional markets while reinforcing its export-oriented growth strategy. Locally, T & G Lanka Pvt Ltd operates as an associate company of Sierra Cables PLC. T&G Lanka is a leading Norwegian supplier of electrical and fibre optical cable systems, bringing international technical expertise and industry knowledge that further enhances the Group’s capabilities and market presence.
Sustainability is embedded within Sierra’s operating philosophy. The company has received 4-Star Green Labelled Product certification from the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka under its Green Labelling System for sustainable building materials. It has also been recognised at the Presidential Environment Awards for excellence in environmental sustainability, reflecting strong environmental governance and responsible manufacturing practices.
The company’s products continue to power many of Sri Lanka’s most significant infrastructure developments. Among them are Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, Tri-Zen Apartments, Cressida Resort Apartments & Residencies, Oceana Beach Resort Apartments & Villas and the Thambuttegama Water Supply Project. These projects represent the kind of complex developments where reliability and safety are non-negotiable — and where Sierra’s technical credibility is trusted.
Equally important is the culture inside the organisation. Sierra Cables has been recognised as a Best Place to Work, reflecting its emphasis on employee empowerment, teamwork, safety and performance. The company believes that innovation and quality are ultimately driven by people who feel trusted, respected and motivated.
Sierra Cables PLC enters the next phase of its journey with momentum and clarity. Record financial performance, exclusive UL 44 certification, access to the United States market, expanding international operations and sustained investment in innovation position the company to deepen its leadership in the industry.
In an increasingly competitive global manufacturing environment, credibility matters. Standards matter. Trust matters. Sierra Cables is building all three.
