Siam City Cement (Lanka) Ltd., has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chief Secretary of the Southern Province to strengthen technical capacity in the construction sector through structured training programs.
The agreement was signed by Siam City Cement (Lanka) Ltd., CEO Thusith Gunawarnasuriya and Southern Province Chief Secretary Chandima C. Muhandiramge, under the patronage of Southern Province Governor Prof. Susiripala Manawadu, at an event held in Galle.
The initiative brought together engineers and technical officers from Local Government bodies and key institutions including the Provincial Road Development Authority (PRDA), Building Department, and Irrigation Department, highlighting expanded public–private collaboration in the region.
As part of the program, three continuous training sessions will be conducted in the coming months for engineers and technical staff across the province.
The sessions will focus on key technical areas such as SLS 573 standards, quality control, construction management, waterproofing, durable concrete practices, and concrete mix design optimisation.
The program is aimed at improving professional competencies and strengthening construction standards, contributing to a more resilient and knowledge-driven infrastructure sector in the Southern Province.
