Senarath Engineering gets Rs. 819 m contract to upgrade Malabe–Kaduwela road

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the awarding of a Rs. 819 million contract to Senarath Engineering Ltd, for the upgrading of the 5.56 kilometre stretch of the Malabe–Kaduwela road (B263) under the Government’s National Expressway Expansion and Improvement Program.

According to the Government, bids were invited under the National Competitive Procurement Procedure for the rehabilitation and improvement of the road section, which serves as a key transport corridor connecting the rapidly developing suburban areas of Malabe and Kaduwela.

“A total of eight bids were received for the project. Following the evaluation process, it was approved to award the contract to Senarath Engineering Ltd, identified as the lowest substantially responsive bidder,” Minister Vijitha Herath said at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday..

He said the contract has been awarded at a value of Rs. 819 million excluding VAT, based on the recommendation of the High Level Procurement Committee.

The proposal to this effect was submitted by Transport Minister Bimal Rathnayake.
