CBL Munchee Sri Lanka’s number one biscuit brand has achieved yet another accolade, receiving the BRCGS AA+ certification, which will strengthen its brand footprint in the global market.

BRCGS stands for brand reputation through compliance with global standards, signifies the food quality and responsibility of a particular brand, and helps build confidence in supply chains across global markets. The certification is recognised in over 130 countries as a mark of brand confidence that enhances product quality and safety. Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) recently felicitated CBL Munchee for this great achievement and for bringing honour to the country while creating a huge potential for expanding its exports.

Munchee, as a truly Sri Lankan brand, has been focusing on ensuring food safety by following many practices and standards since its inception. Those practices and standards have now become the norms of the biscuit industry. Almost 30 years ago, CBL Munchee became the first SLS-certified biscuit brand in Sri Lanka in 1994.Since then, as the leader in the industry, the brand has closely worked with SLSI for quality, food safety, and environmental-related certifications such as ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management System), and ISO 14001 (Environment Management System). And that reflects Munchee’s consistent concern for stringent quality standards, which has enabled the brand to command the highest level of confidence from both local and international markets. CBL Munchee has been the winner of the National Quality Award three consecutive times in 2005, 2012, and 2017. A winner of this award is permitted to compete once again only after five years.

Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. Director/CEO Nalin B. Karunaratne commented on the occasion of achieving the Brand Reputation through Compliance Global Standards (BRCGS) AA+ certification: “The receipt of this certificate will reaffirm the reputation of Munchee as the trend setter for excellence in food safety and food quality practices in the Sri Lankan biscuit industry. BRCGS AA+ certification signifies a company’s commitment to maintain the highest level of quality and food safety practices in compliance with local and international standards while fostering consumer confidence.  “CBL Munchee’s accomplishment of this prestigious certification further solidifies the brand’s position as a leader in the food manufacturing sector in Sri Lanka. This certification offers enhanced credibility and greater acceptance in the international marketplace, a competitive advantage, and a testament to the company’s pursuit of excellence in delivering superior-quality products to customers worldwide.”

The felicitation for CBL Munchee in recognition of achieving BRCGS AA+ certification was held at the SLSI premises in the presence of SLSI Chairman Dr. Asanga Ranasinghe, Director General Dr. Siddhika Senarathna, and other top officials, while a team of senior management headed by Director/CEO Nalin B. Karunaratne, represented Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. at this event.
