The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) has announced the third intake of its acclaimed “Women in Leadership” program, starting on 31 July, at the City Club Meeting Room, Cinnamon Grand.
Recognising the growing need for gender diversity in leadership, SLID’s Women in Leadership program aims to groom second-tier female executives through an innovative blend of training, mentoring, and sponsorship.
This comprehensive six-month program is dedicated to equipping women Directors and aspiring female leaders with the skills they need, to thrive in Board-level roles.
Key features of the program include, four one-hour mentoring sessions with experienced Board Directors, a one-day intensive leadership course specifically tailored for women leaders, internal sponsorship and dedicated career support, networking opportunities with Sri Lanka’s top corporate leaders, access to SLID’s Women Directors Forum, membership benefits, and resources.
Certificate of completion and entry into SLID’s prestigious directory of Women Directors and Board Ready Women also awaits those who complete the program successfully.
“Participants will gain critical insights into effectively handling Board Room dynamics, strategically aligning themselves for career growth, networking across different dimensions, developing their personal brand and work life balance,” explained SLID Women Directors Forum Chairperson Nadija Tambiah. She went on to state, that beyond personal development for the participants, the program will bring organisations, many organisational benefits – research shows that companies with strong female Board representation outperform their peers in financial performance, shareholder value, and risk management.
“The high levels of migration in the recent past and the surfeit of educated females in Sri Lanka, make it not only the right thing to do but smart business practice for Sri Lankan organisations. Full participation of women in corporate decision making has now become an imperative,” noted SLID Chairperson Aroshi Nanayakkara. “Past participants have all indicated that this program was a source of great learning and inspiration, thus we are delighted to offer the program again,” she further stated.
The program’s investment is Rs. 150,000 per participant, with only 25 seats available for the upcoming intake. Corporates are encouraged to nominate their emerging women leaders and invest in the future of inclusive leadership in Sri Lanka.
