As Sri Lanka moves beyond economic stabilisation, the next challenge is turning policy direction and reform into sustained economic progress. With stabilisation no longer the only priority, attention is increasingly turning to what comes next—how to sustain growth, build competitiveness and translate reforms and investment into lasting economic progress.

This will be among the key questions at the Sri Lanka Economic and Investment Summit 2026 (SLEIS 2026) organised by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on 12-13 October, where industry veterans and policymakers will examine the priorities that will shape Sri Lanka’s next phase of development.

Titled “Building the Next Economy: Policy, Technology and Infrastructure for Growth,” the session will feature President’s Senior Adviser on Science and Technology Prof. Gomika Udugamasooriya, President’s Chief Adviser on Digital Economy Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya and Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake. Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Secretary General and CEO Shiran Fernando will moderate the discussion.

The discussion will examine the choices Sri Lanka faces as it moves from managing economic pressures to building an economy that can compete, adapt, and grow over the long term. It will consider the reforms and investments needed to support this transition, while examining how technology, innovation, digital transformation and infrastructure can contribute to higher productivity and new areas of economic opportunity.

Together, these perspectives will offer a broader view of how Sri Lanka can build the foundations for its next stage of growth and become better positioned to respond to technological, economic and global shifts.

A key focus will also be the gap between policy direction and implementation. With Sri Lanka seeking to attract investment, strengthen connectivity and develop new sources of growth, the discussion will consider what needs to change not only in policy, but in how those priorities are translated into action.

Held under the theme “Positioning Sri Lanka in a Changing Global Economy: Resilience, Reform, and the Future of Economic Policy”, the Summit will take place on 12 and 13 October 2026 at the Shangri-La Colombo, bringing together senior policymakers, business leaders, investors and international experts to examine Sri Lanka’s economic direction, investment opportunities and the reforms required to support long-term growth.
