In conjunction with Sri Lanka’s participation at the Middle East Rubber & Tyre Expo 2025, the Sri Lanka Business Council UAE (SLBC) hosted a high-profile Networking Dinner at the Pullman Hotel, Deira City Centre, Dubai, to welcome and support the visiting delegation of Sri Lankan rubber product exporters.

The event was designed to provide exhibitors with a platform to connect with potential business partners, distributors, and regional stakeholders. It was well attended by representatives from various industries and nationalities, creating an engaging space for meaningful dialogue and collaboration.

Among the distinguished guests were Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the UAE Professor Arusha Cooray, Consul General Alexis Gunasekara, Minister Counsellor Thakshila Arnolda, and Export Development Board (EDB) of Sri Lanka Deputy Director Susantha Premarathne.

SLBC Chairman Suren Swaminathan, in his welcome address, reiterated the council’s ongoing efforts to create strategic platforms for exporters and emphasised the importance of proactive engagement: “What we can do is open doors — but it’s up to you to walk through them,” he told the exhibitors.

The Consul General echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of quality and positioning Sri Lanka’s rubber products for international markets. He highlighted Dubai’s value as a transshipment hub and referenced Sri Lanka’s broader export goals under the national economic strategy.

Ambassador Cooray spoke on the evolving trade relationship between Sri Lanka and the UAE, underscoring the need to increase exports through innovation and quality, and assured exhibitors of the full support of the Embassy and Consulate.

Each exhibitor was invited to introduce themselves and their products, creating a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere. The evening concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by SLBC Vice Chairman Shihan Sheriff.

Hosted in partnership with Pullman Hotel, the SLBC’s preferred hospitality partner, the event featured a curated menu of Sri Lankan and international cuisine and reinforced SLBC’s ongoing commitment to fostering Sri Lanka’s trade presence in the region.
