SL Economic Association mourns loss of senior member Sarath Vidanagama

The Sri Lanka Economic Association (SLEA) said yesterday it was deeply saddened by the sudden demise of its senior member Sarath Vidanagama.It said Vidanagama’s contribution to the nation crossed boundaries of the University of Colombo. He was an active Council Member of the SLEA for nearly four decades. He is leaving as the Chief Editor of the prestigious and peer reviewed Sri Lanka Economic Journal of SLEA. 

Vidanagama is another shining gem mined and polished by the University of Ceylon, Peradeniya, His exceptional analytical, research and academic skills attracted him to the Department of Economics, University of Colombo, as a lecturer. After earning post-graduation from the University of Stirling, Scotland, Vidananagama, unlike others, returned to his motherland to continue his incomplete mission of teaching and research career. He was a leading economist and a legend. 

Late Vidanagama’s remains lie at the A.F. Raymond parlour until the cremation takes place at the General Cemetery Kanatte Borella on 30 May 2023 at 4.00 p.m.
