The Sri Lanka – Benelux Business Council of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently hosted a seminar on “Quality Assurance, Safety Standards and Certification.”
The seminar focused on Introduction to Halal Certification and the Global Demand for Halal Certified Products, providing valuable insights for exporters, manufacturers, and professionals in the food and beverage sector.
Speakers at the seminar, Halal Assessment Council (Guarantee) Ltd., Director/CEO Aakif A. Wahab and Lead Auditor, Trainer, and Quality Controller Sangeetha Liyanapathirana, shared their expertise on quality standards, certification processes, and the growing importance of compliance in international markets. The seminar emphasised that adherence to internationally recognised standards such as ISO and Halal certification enhances product quality, safety, and global market acceptance.
The event attracted strong participation from industry stakeholders, particularly exporters and manufacturers, who benefited from practical knowledge and real-world applications discussed during the sessions. Participants also engaged in discussions on maintaining safety standards and achieving internationally recognised certifications.
This initiative was led by Sri Lanka – Benelux Business Council President Farhath Amith with the objective of ensuring that participants in the food and service industries are well-informed on current trends in ISO standards, certifications, and Halal standards.
The seminar aimed to support businesses in aligning with international requirements and exploring opportunities in existing global markets, reflecting the Council’s continued commitment to supporting Sri Lankan businesses in strengthening quality practices, ensuring compliance with global standards, and expanding into international markets.
