The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) is to hold its SAFA SME Development Conference 2022 to celebrate ‘United Nations – Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Day’ organised by the SAFA International Relations Committee and hosted by the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka) on the theme ‘Supporting Small Businesses in Financial and Cost Management’ on Monday, 27 June 2022 from 3.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. via Online Zoom Platform. 

The inaugural session’s welcome and introductory remarks will be delivered by SAFA International Relations Committee Chairman, SAFA Past President and CMA Sri Lanka President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. The presentation on ‘Role of SAFA in SME Development’ will be delivered by SAFA President and CMA Sri Lanka Vice President H.M. Hennayake Bandara. 

The keynote presentation on ‘Developing a Financial Ecosystem for SMEs – Role of Credit Guarantee Institution’ will be delivered by Asian Development Bank Financial Sector Specialist Takuya Hoshino and the Guest of Honour presentation on ‘Significance of UN MSME Day’ will be delivered ILO representing UN Sri Lanka and Maldives Country Director Simrin Singh. The vote of thanks will be delivered by SAFA Vice President CA. Nihar N. Jambusaria.

Technical session two will be moderated by CMA Sri Lanka Council Member Ruchira Perera. The presentations will be delivered by Peoples Bank Sri Lanka Assistant General Manager Wickrama Narayana on ‘the role of Banking Sector in Restructuring and Rehabilitation of SMEs’, Corporate Doctors Ltd. CEO and CMA Sri Lanka COVID-19 SME Development Committee Member Dr. Chamara Bandara on ‘Cash Flow and Working Capital Management for SMEs’ and SAFA SMP Committee Chairman CA. Prakash Sharma on ‘the role of SMPs to support SME Sector’. The session will conclude with a Question and Answer session.

Technical session three panel discussion will be moderated by H C P Consulting Ltd. Chairman/Principal Consultant and CMA Sri Lanka COVID-19 SME Development Committee Member Chaaminda Kumarasiri. 

The representatives from South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) representing the Chartered and Management Accounting Bodies of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Nepal, and Maldives will share their experience on ‘South Asian Experiences in SME Development’.  This session will also have a Q&A Session.

The Vote of Thanks will be delivered by the SAFA Permanent Secretary CA Dr. Jai Kumar Batra.
