Rohantha appointed to Lotus Hydro Board

Dr. Rohantha Athukorala

Dr. Rohantha Athukorala has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Lotus Hydro Power PLC.

Dr. Athukorala is an accomplished business leader with over 21 years of experience in brand marketing and sales management. He has held key leadership roles at multinational companies including Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser, and Diversey Lever India. He also served as the Country Head for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, contributing significantly to brand strategy and market expansion in the region.

He has held prominent positions in both the public and private sectors, including Chairmanship of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board and Sri Lanka Tourism. He was appointed as the Commissioner General for the World Expo in Milan and later joined the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) as the Portfolio Development Head for Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Dr. Athukorala is currently the Country Head of Clootrack Software Labs, overseeing operations in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. He also serves as a Board Director at the Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), and Strategic Lead for Sun Match Company, the owners of the Soorya Matches brand. Recently, he was appointed Vice President of the World Rural Tourism Council, responsible for the Asia Pacific region.

In 2025, he was appointed by the Government of Sri Lanka to develop the Strategic Plan 2025–2029 for the University Grants Commission (UGC), Higher Education Ministry, and later for the National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF), Finance Ministry.

Dr. Athukorala holds a double degree in Marketing, an MBA, and a Doctorate in Business Administration. He is also an alumnus of Harvard University.
