Several experts will share useful insights to complying with Sri Lanka’s Anti-Corruption Act and what corporates need to do at a forum organised by Corporate Management Consultants on 6 March from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the NH Collection, Colombo 3.
The forum will take the shape of a public consultation on the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023 concerning Rules on Gifts, Rules on Conflict of Interest, and Rules on Integrity.
Speakers and contributors at the consultation will be Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) Commissioner Chethiya Gunasekera, PC, Dialog Axiata PLC Group General Counsel/Vice President Group Legal and Regulatory Attorney-at-Law Trinesh Fernando, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) former Director General and Finance Ministry Senior Adviser Attorney-at-Law Malik Cader. The session will be chaired by National Savings Bank Chairman Dr. Harsha Cabral, PC.
Organisers said the recently enacted anti-corruption legislation now captures the private sector, significantly impacting its business operations. Corporates are encouraged to take this opportunity to share their perspectives on how these regulations affect their work. Insights will be very helpful in helping with the development and finalisation of the implementing rules of this Act. These viewpoints will be discussed and considered during this consultation.
This consultation will also spell out views of the above rules and will be discussed for clarity prior to entering the rule book.
Corporates are encouraged to submit their concerns and proposals on the above rules that will be implemented to [email protected].
This consultation will benefit directors, lawyers, compliance managers, auditors, HR managers, and accountants.
