Prof. Ananda Jayawardane

Former Commercial Bank Chairman Prof. Ananda Jayawardane was yesterday appointed to the Board of Prime Lands Residencies PLC as a Non-Executive Director.
Prof. Jayawardane has held senior roles in the public and private sectors across construction, banking, finance, manufacturing, insurance, IT, education, and science and technology.
He served nine years on Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC’s Board before retiring in April 2024. He is currently Senior Professor in Civil Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, a Non-Executive Director of HNB Assurance PLC and Mother Lanka Foundation, and serves on committees of the Central Bank and CA Sri Lanka.
He is a past Vice-Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa, former Director General of the National Science Foundation, and has served on the governing bodies of several State and private institutions. A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of multiple professional bodies, he holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and postgraduate qualifications including a PhD in Construction Management from Loughborough University, UK.
He has published extensively, co-authored textbooks on construction productivity, and received awards for contributions to engineering and education.
