Litro Gas Lanka Ltd., will buy its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for 2027 from OQ Trading Ltd., at the Saudi Aramco Contract Price plus $ 133.93 per metric tonne, Cabinet Spokesperson Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said on Tuesday. The Saudi Aramco Contract Price is the monthly benchmark price for LPG.
He was speaking at the media briefing on decisions taken at Monday’s (12) Cabinet meeting. Dr. Jayatissa said the contract covers 420,000 metric tonnes, plus or minus 20%, with a guaranteed minimum of 336,000 metric tonnes. It runs for 12 months from 1 January, 2027.
The price is on a cost, insurance and freight (CIF) basis, meaning the supplier bears the cost of delivery and insurance up to Sri Lanka. Of the four bids received, OQ Trading was the substantially responsive lowest bidder, and the Higher Level Procurement Committee recommended the award. The President presented the proposal. The previous supplier was Geogas Trading SA of Switzerland which supplied LPG from the US.
