The National Sales Average (NSA) of tea increased in November on both a month-on-month and year-on-year basis, according to Forbes and Walker Research.
The NSA for the month was Rs. 1,198.39 ($ 3.91), up Rs. 21.25 and $ 0.04 from October’s average of Rs. 1,177.14 ($ 3.87). Compared with November 2024, when the average was Rs. 1,137.22 ($ 3.89), the NSA recorded an increase of Rs. 61.17 and $ 0.02.
The cumulative NSA for January–November 2025 was Rs. 1,164.97 ($ 3.88), a decline of Rs. 63.49 and $ 0.17 against the corresponding period of 2024 (Rs. 1,228.46; $ 4.05).
High Grown teas averaged Rs. 1,157.52 ($ 3.78), reflecting an increase of Rs. 10.33 and $ 0.01 month-on-month
and an increase of Rs. 64.63 and $ 0.04 year-on-year.
Medium Grown teas averaged Rs. 1,030.24 ($ 3.36), a decline of Rs. 0.73 and $ 0.03 month on month; compared with November 2024, the elevation recorded an increase of Rs. 39.99 and a decrease of $ 0.03.
Low Grown teas averaged Rs. 1,258.93 ($ 4.11), up Rs. 26.75 and $ 0.06 month on month, and up Rs. 67.20 and $ 0.03 year on year.
Forbes and Walker Research said all elevations continued to show negative variances for January–November 2025 compared with the cumulative corresponding period of 2024 in both rupee and dollar terms.
Tea exports amounted to $ 126.5 million in October 2025, down 0.2% from a year ago while cumulative earnings rose 8.7% year-on-year to nearly $ 1.3 billion for the January-October 2025 period, CBSL data shows.
