Theja De Silva, Group Chief Financial Officer of Nawaloka Hospitals PLC, Colombo, has been named Best CFO of the Year 2026 at the 47th National Conference of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), recognising his contribution to financial leadership and business transformation.

For De Silva, the recognition marks an important milestone in a career shaped by navigating challenging business environments and a belief that financial leadership goes far beyond managing numbers.

His professional journey includes working with organisations facing financial and operational difficulties, experiences that helped shape his approach to business recovery, governance and sustainable growth. Today, at Nawaloka Hospitals PLC Colombo, he has played a key role in strengthening financial discipline and contributing to the Group's financial turnaround, while supporting continued investment in healthcare services and innovation.

Reflecting on his leadership philosophy, De Silva said, "The true strength of a CFO lies not merely in understanding numbers, but in translating financial knowledge into sound decisions, inspiring people and creating opportunities for progress. Finance should not simply explain business performance after the event; it should help shape an organisation's future."

Holding professional qualifications including ACCA, FCPM and MSLID, De Silva also serves as Secretary of AAT Sri Lanka, extending his contribution beyond corporate leadership to the development of the accounting and finance profession. He is particularly passionate about encouraging young professionals to look beyond traditional accounting roles and embrace opportunities in strategic business leadership.

He attributes his professional growth to four essential pillars: knowledge, experience, soft skills and networking, believing that a combination of these qualities is fundamental to effective leadership.

De Silva expressed his gratitude to Nawaloka Hospitals PLC Colombo Chairman Dr. H. K. Jayantha Dharmadasa, Deputy Chairperson Anisha Dharmadasa, the Board of Directors and his colleagues for their continued trust and support.

He hopes the recognition will inspire emerging finance professionals to pursue excellence with integrity, sound judgement and a commitment to making a meaningful difference.
