The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved awarding of a new ground handling contract for SriLankan Airlines operations at Sydney Airport in Australia, following the expiry of the previous agreement on 30 April 2026.
The procurement was conducted through a limited international competitive bidding process, with three proposals received. After evaluation, the High-Level Standing Procurement Committee recommended Menzies Aviation Australia Ltd., as the substantially responsive lowest bidder.
“The contract has been awarded at a value of AUD 8.32 million for a three-year period commencing 1 May 2026,” Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said during the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday.
The proposal to this effect was submitted by the Ports, Shipping and Civil Aviation Minister Anura Karunathilake.
