Representatives from MTU and DIMO honoured clients with tokens of appreciation during the Technical Forum 2025
MTU – a global leader in high-performance propulsion and power systems – together with its authorised representative in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, DIMO, is poised to transform the marine and general engineering sectors with cutting-edge solutions while solidifying their presence in the region.
As the sole Authorised Dealer for MTU in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, DIMO has delivered high-performance solutions that have powered critical infrastructure and national security assets while supplying and servicing over 400 MTU customers and engines across both countries for the past 30 years.
DIMO–MTU Technical Forum 2025 was organised recently to educate its clientele in marine and general engineering sectors on these latest cutting-edge solutions while bringing together a distinguished audience of industry leaders, key customers including senior officials from public sector institutions including the Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Railways, Sri Lanka Army, Air Force, and Police. MTU principals, MTU Director – Parts and Logistics (Asia) Gan Yien Yien, and Senior Executive – Service Sales (Asia) Gopal Nadaraj, attended the event alongside the DIMO leadership team.
Customers were educated on latest cutting-edge solutions like “MTU Go!”, a digital platform offering real-time fleet management, and Performance-Based Extended Maintenance Routines, which optimise service intervals using real-time data.
DIMO General Manager – Marine and General Engineering Chathura Gunasekara explained, “MTU Go! allows customers to integrate all their MTU engines and systems into a centralised digital platform using IoT connectivity. It provides full access to engine diagnostics, performance metrics, service schedules, and alerts via mobile devices—enabling proactive, data-driven decision-making and greater control on the go.”
He further educated customers on the performance-based extended maintenance routines, noting that they extend service intervals based on actual engine usage and performance trends. “This reduces unnecessary downtime and costs while improving reliability and maximising engine lifecycle value,” he said, emphasising that these innovations reflect DIMO’s customer-centric approach to engineering solutions.
DIMO and MTU plan to invest in research-based service upgrades and product development, identifying Sri Lanka and the Maldives as strategic growth markets. These investments will focus on tailoring advanced propulsion and power solutions to local requirements and developing new engine variants through collaborative R&D.
MTU Director – Parts and Logistics (Asia) Gan Yien Yien said, “MTU ValueCare is introduced for maximum uptime, longer life, and optimised costs. This is the only service portfolio designed specifically with clients’ equipment in mind. With MTU ValueCare, we’re not just delivering service—we’re delivering assurance. From original parts to preventive maintenance and staff training, every element is designed to maximise uptime and give our customers complete peace of mind.”
In Sri Lanka, MTU engines power naval vessels of the Sri Lanka Navy, locomotives of Sri Lanka Railways, Forces, and key national infrastructure projects of the Ceylon Electricity Board, Urban Development Authority, and Health Ministry, as well as the iconic Lotus Tower and several private sector initiatives. In the Maldives, DIMO services MTU engines for the Marine Police, luxury resorts, and more than 30 yachts, reinforcing its leadership in premium marine engineering in the Indian Ocean region.
