Sri Lanka experienced severe weather conditions beginning on 27 November 2025, which intensified over three days, bringing heavy rainfall that flooded homes, agricultural lands, and road networks, while also triggering landslides across the country. According to the latest summary issued by the Disaster Management Centre, 627 deaths have been confirmed, with 209 individuals still reported missing due to the inclement weather. A total of 1.5 million people, belonging to 448,817 families, have been affected by the disaster.
As a socially responsible organisation, Lanka IOC has stepped forward to support the communities affected by this catastrophic situation. Under the guidance of the Managing Director of Lanka IOC, the CSR Team actively organised the distribution of dry rations to several severely affected areas, including Gampaha, Ratnapura, Kandy, Mahiyanganaya, Trincomalee, Kurunegala, Nuwara Eliya, Kinniya, and Dankotuwa.
Demonstrating its continued commitment to national development, Rs. 50,000,000.00 was donated to the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka” Fund under the “We Care” CSR initiative of Lanka IOC PLC. The cheque was handed over to the Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, by the LIOC Managing Director. The High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha, also participated in the event.
