Addressing the gathering, Minister Herath emphasised that digital transformation is not merely about introducing new technology, but about improving the manner in which Government institutions serve the people with greater efficiency, accessibility, transparency, and accountability. Minister Herath further noted that the new platform would strengthen Sri Lanka’s digital engagement with citizens, Sri Lankan communities overseas, foreign partners, investors, tourists, and the international community.

As part of Phase I of the Common Website Platform project, seven Sri Lanka Missions, including Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bucharest, High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malé, High Commission of Sri Lanka in New Delhi, Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia, High Commission of Sri Lanka in Wellington, Embassy of Sri Lanka in Hague and Embassy of Sri Lanka in Cairo have been brought under this unified platform. The Common Website Platform project envisages to expand in phases with the objective of bringing all Sri Lanka Missions abroad under one unified and standardised digital platform in the near future.

The Public Diplomacy Division, General Administration Division, and the IT Unit of the Ministry, together with Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT), the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka, and the Ministry of Digital Economy spearheaded this initiative with the technical expertise of Frontwalker Ltd.

The newly launched website and Common Website Platform have been developed with a strong focus on security, reliability, accessibility, and user-friendliness. The launch marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation journey of the Ministry in line with the Government’s Digital Transformation policy and reflects the Government’s broader commitment to strengthening public service delivery through modern, secure, and citizen-centred digital platforms.
