The Exporters’ Association of Sri Lanka (EASL) held its 28th Annual General Meeting with European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Ambassador Carmen Moreno as Chief Guest.
The EU Ambassador emphasised the vital importance of compliance, sustainability, and regional integration, highlighting how these factors offer small and medium-sized enterprises a competitive edge, support sustainable sourcing, and strengthen connectivity in Asia and Africa. She also underscored EU efforts to support climate action, innovation, and fair-trade practices in alignment with evolving consumer demands and the CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) framework.
Yohan Lawrence was re-elected as Chairman, with Rozanne de Almeida and Nalaka Ratnayake continuing as Vice Chairpersons.
Lawrence said: “Sri Lanka needs to widen our trade beyond our traditional markets, seeking better sources of raw materials for our manufacturing enterprises, and a greater presence for both our goods and our service exporters.”
Distinguished guests included Ambassador of Italy Damiano Francovigh, trade officers from multiple diplomatic missions, and leading figures from Sri Lanka’s export sector. The occasion provided a large forum for industry stakeholders from multiple sectors to engage with each other and with the attending trade officers.
The Executive Committee comprises representatives from: Nidro Supply Ltd., Hatton National Bank, Hayleys PLC, Akbar Brothers Ltd., Sampath Bank, Lion Brewery, Expack Corrugated Carton, CIC Holdings, Atlas Axillia Co. Ltd., Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC, Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (SLECIC), Tea Tang Ltd., Ceylon Biscuits Ltd., Dipped Products PLC, Bogala Graphite, as well as representatives from member associations.
