Dr. Rohitha Silva

Dr. Rohitha Silva has been appointed President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL), one of the country’s leading apex business organisations representing 63 chambers countrywide trade associations, entrepreneurs, regional business communities and private-sector stakeholders.
His appointment comes at a critical time when Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and businesses are still recovering from multiple crises conditions, including COVID-19, foreign exchange shortages, inflation, high finance costs, supply chain disruptions, labour shortages and weak market confidence. Many SMEs continue to face pressure in daily operations, working capital, delayed payments, rising overheads and sustaining employment and productivity.
With more than 35 years of business experience, Dr. Silva is expected to bring practical leadership, private-sector understanding and international exposure to the Federation. He is Chairman and Managing Director of idac Ltd., a company engaged in total solutions for air conditioning and ventilation.
Dr. Silva has served FCCISL for many years in several important capacities, including Board Member, Director, Vice President, Strategy Committee Chairman and member of many committees. Through these roles, he has contributed to strengthening the chamber movement, supporting entrepreneurship, promoting policy dialogue and improving business representation at regional and national levels.
His leadership experience extends to regional and international business platforms. Dr. Silva is currently serving as Vice President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representing FCCISL and Sri Lanka in the South Asian regional private-sector network. He has also served as President of the Asia Pacific Trade Agreement Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Beijing, China, and has been associated with the Colombo Chamber of Commerce, the International Chamber of Commerce, the Young Lankan Entrepreneurs of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council.
Beyond his chamber responsibilities, Dr. Silva is connected with professional and civic institutions, including the Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association, Captained the Royal Colombo Golf Club. He has also held honorary positions including Brand Ambassador for Rotary International and currently the Patron of the Mercantile Hockey Association.
As President of FCCISL, Dr. Silva’s leadership is expected to focus on supporting entrepreneurs, SMEs and crisis-affected businesses to regain stability, improve operational resilience, access new opportunities, strengthen trade linkages and contribute to Sri Lanka’s inclusive private-sector-led economic recovery.
