Deshini Abeyewardena joins Cable Solutions Board

Cable Solutions PLC has appointed Deshini Abeyewardena to its Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director.

Abeyewardena is a Chartered and Management Accountant with experience in corporate governance, strategic consultancy, business development and public sector reform across a range of industries. Her career spans leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, with work focused on organisational restructuring, sustainability and institutional development.

She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of Resus Energy PLC, where she chairs the Audit Committee and is a member of the Related Party Transaction Board Committee, contributing to the strategic planning and governance of the Colombo Stock Exchange-listed renewable energy company. She is also Honorary Director and Chair of Environmental Foundation (Guarantee) Ltd., overseeing interdisciplinary teams working on conservation initiatives, public interest litigation and environmental policy development.

Between 2022 and 2023, Abeyewardena served as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte Consulting LLC, leading a multidisciplinary team on a USAID-funded project aimed at improving public sector efficiency and resource management for the Government of Sri Lanka. Earlier, from 1996 to 2002, she was Senior Manager and Director at the Public Enterprises Reform Commission, where she directed the privatisation of 14 State-Owned Enterprises and coordinated financial sector reform initiatives.

Her corporate sector experience includes serving as Head of Clinical Operations at Quintiles Lanka (IQVIA) from 2013 to 2015, where she established and managed the company’s operations in Sri Lanka, including clinical trials conducted at major Government hospitals. She was also Director of Business Development and Investor Relations at Hemas Holdings PLC between 2007 and 2009, focusing on portfolio rationalisation and new investments in sectors including FMCG, healthcare and power generation.

Abeyewardena additionally worked as Manager of the Premier Centre at HSBC from 2006 to 2007, overseeing the bank’s premier customer portfolio and service standards, and as Manager Public Relations at Sri Lankan Airlines Ltd. from 2002 to 2006, where she developed global public relations strategies and helped establish the airline’s charitable trust, ‘Sri Lankan Cares.’

She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA), UK, and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ACA). She also completed her chartered training at Ernst & Young, focusing on statutory audits and systems evaluation.
