With over five decades of experience, Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) specialises in designing and building customised ships and steel structures as per customer requirements. Going beyond the regular Ship Building and Ship Repairs works, under the Heavy Engineering portfolio, CDPLC has completed several notable projects across a variety of industries locally and globally.
One such area of growth is in the Underwater Structures sector, where CDPLC has made a significant milestone by constructing an Underwater Restaurant Structure for the resort “You and Me” in 2018.
In 2022, CDPLC completed another 50-seater capacity underwater restaurant structure for the OBLU Resort in Ailafushi, for Atmosphere Hotels and Resorts Ltd., Maldives, the largest of its kind in the Maldives to date.
Further, CDPLC has successfully completed construction and installation of an underwater gallery structure and an underwater restaurant structure for two other prominent Maldivian resorts in 2025 by further solidifying our position as the market leader in innovative marine and engineering solutions. Out of that, “Bubble Underwater Restaurant” a 12-seater Underwater Restaurant was opened for guests by Meyyafushi Investments Ltd., in December 2025 making it the newest Underwater Restaurant in the Maldives
Consolidating its market leadership in this niche market, Colombo Dockyard PLC entered into contracts in December 2025 for the construction of two more Underwater Restaurant Structures for Maldives.
Currently CDPLC is focusing on securing projects of Underwater Restaurants/Bedrooms/Bungalows/Villas, etc in Maldives and trying to approach clients who own resorts of significant capacity.
