Chaaminda Kumarasiri steps down as Group Managing Director of The Lanka Hospitals

Leading management consultant and corporate strategist Chaaminda Kumarasiri has stepped down from the position of Group Managing Director of The Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC with effect from 14 May 2026, following a transformative tenure during which the organisation achieved the strongest performance in its history.

Kumarasiri was appointed as the Group Managing Director in June 2025 at a pivotal stage in the organisation’s journey, when the institution required strong leadership direction, operational stabilisation, and strategic realignment. Widely recognised for his strategic leadership, governance expertise, and turnaround capabilities, he was entrusted with steering the organisation towards a new phase of growth and transformation.

Under his leadership, the hospital recorded historic results driven by improved operational efficiencies, enhanced service standards, strengthened governance practices, and the expansion of healthcare services. Lanka Hospitals delivered its strongest financial and operational performance since inception in 2025 under Kumarasiri’s leadership, marking a significant milestone for the organisation, particularly given the complex and challenging operating environment faced by the healthcare sector during the period.

During his tenure, the organisation also developed a comprehensive five-year strategic roadmap under the theme “HEARTS 360” to support its next phase of growth and transformation. The strategic plan was recently presented to the Deputy Minister of Finance and the Secretary to the Treasury.

The company recently announced the appointment of a new Group Chief Executive Officer with effect from 4 May 2026 as part of its leadership transition process.

In its stock exchange disclosure, the company further stated that Kumarasiri will continue to serve on the Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Kumarasiri is widely recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s leading management consultants and corporate leaders, having held senior leadership positions across both local and multinational organisations throughout his career.
