In response to the recent floods that affected the infrastructure of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Peradeniya, Cargills Dairies Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Cargills (Ceylon) PLC, through its leading ice cream brand Magic, donated laboratory equipment and laptops to support the restoration of faculty facilities.

These contributions are intended to help rebuild the learning and research environment while providing students with hands-on experience in dairy technology, product development, and food innovation. This practical exposure equips students with the skills required for meaningful careers in Sri Lanka’s growing food and agriculture sector.

Cargills has a longstanding history of collaboration with local universities, recognising the importance of partnerships between industry and academia in driving national development. Beyond supporting education, the company works with universities to transform research into commercially viable products, facilitate knowledge transfer from academia to industry and create market opportunities for young talent. By connecting students and researchers with real-world applications, Cargills fosters entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable growth across the sector.
