The Colombo stock market yesterday closed in green for the third straight session, making small gains amidst persistent global uncertainties.

The ASPI ended up a marginal 0.03% or 7.84 points at 22,620.14 and the S&P SL20 was up 0.24% or 15.12 points at 6,229.68. Market turnover was over Rs. 3 billion on more than 127.8 million shares traded. Foreigners were back as net sellers on a net outflow of Rs. 39.1 million.

First Capital Research said that amid the volatile and uncertain global geopolitical backdrop, coupled with rising oil prices and cautious investor sentiment, the Colombo bourse remained largely flat. CINS, COMB, JKH, ACL, and DIAL emerged as the top positive contributors to the ASPI.

Market activity reflected mixed sentiment, alongside average participation from both HNW and retail investors. The capital goods sector led the daily turnover with a share of 35%, followed by the banking, and food beverage and tobacco sectors collectively contributing 28%.
