More organisations than ever are putting their corporate reporting forward for recognition, with the TAGS Awards 2026, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), receiving more than 150 applications, the highest in its 61-year history.

Held under the theme “Legacy of Excellence: Creating Value Beyond Reporting”, this year’s competition has drawn entries from listed companies, multinationals, conglomerates, large corporates to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as non-profit and non-governmental organisations. This breadth of participation reflects a growing belief that credible reporting and sound governance underpin stakeholder confidence and business resilience.

CA Sri Lanka President Tishan Subasinghe said the response underlines the importance organisations now place on credible reporting. “Organisations across sectors and of varying sizes recognise that high-quality reporting builds investor confidence, strengthens our markets and supports the resilience of our economy. They are not simply reporting to shareholders; they are contributing to the stability and credibility of the wider financial ecosystem,” he explained.

Subasinghe also praised the participating organisations for their commitment to transparency, accountability, governance and sustainability, and for raising the bar for corporate reporting in Sri Lanka.

TAGS Awards Committee Chairman Chamara Abeyrathne added that the milestone is especially encouraging in the competition’s 61st year, given that its legacy has been built on vision, commitment and a willingness to keep raising standards. “The strong participation, particularly from first-time entrants, shows that a new generation of organisations is taking corporate reporting seriously. That bodes well for the quality of reporting in Sri Lanka in the years ahead,” he added.

The entries are now going through the competition’s rigorous three-tier evaluation process, with the awards culminating in the grand finale on 10 December 2026 at Shangri-La Colombo.

First held in 1964 as the Annual Report Awards Competition, the TAGS Awards has served the country for more than six decades. It has become a benchmark for reporting excellence in Sri Lanka, encouraging stronger disclosure practices and greater confidence among investors and other stakeholders.
