Tarayana Foundation and MTI Consulting teams at the launch of the five-year strategic planning process

MTI Consulting has been retained to develop the five-year strategic plan for Bhutan’s renowned public benefit organisation, Tarayana Foundation.

The assignment would help formulate its strategic direction, covering a five-year time horizon ensuring inclusiveness, sustainability and shock-responsiveness to overcome the impact of the pandemic.

“Since the inception, the focus of the Tarayana Foundation has been on uplifting the livelihoods of the grassroot level communities of Bhutan. Given the local and global dynamics, we see the need to reassess the requirements of the communities we currently serve, refocus and realign our strategic direction appropriately” said Tarayana Foundation Secretary-General Chime P. Wangdi. “With the COVID-19 pandemic impacting economies across the world, we see the importance of taking these implications into context when framing Tarayana’s strategic plan. For which, a comprehensive research-based strategising approach is required. MTI’s 8S Model, which is an internationally proven strategic planning model, will be customised and used as the master model to facilitate this,” said MTI Consulting CEO Hilmy Cader.

“We see great potential for Tarayana Foundation to serve and uplift more communities in Bhutan, and we are pleased to be on board to facilitate and enable this outcome. The strategic plan will include (but not be limited to) stakeholder input gathering, overall conceptual framework, capacity strengthening approaches and fundraising strategy. The project will be executed via MTI’s international team as well as on-the-ground teams, including MTI’s Bhutan-based associate Druk Associates,” said Bhutan Operations Country Lead Rajika Sangakkara.

Tarayana Foundation is a public benefit organisation founded by Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck and registered with the Civil Society Organisation Authority of Bhutan. The foundation was formally launched in 2003 and has since worked towards bridging the gaps between larger national initiatives and local grassroots requirements. The Foundation works in remote, rural villages to bring about holistic community growth and development serving the needy communities.  MTI Consulting is an internationally-networked boutique management consultancy, offering advisory services in strategy, operations and corporate finance. Since its inception in 1997, MTI has worked on over 670 assignments in over 49 countries, covering a diverse range of industries, clients and business challenges.
