Sunshine Consumer Lanka, the market leader in Sri Lanka’s branded tea category and a growing player in confectionery, was honoured by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) as “Best Marketing Company of the Year – Sri Lanka”, earning the opportunity to represent the nation at the prestigious Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) Awards 2025, held in China in May 2025.
This national-level recognition was granted following a competitive evaluation by SLIM, reflecting Sunshine Consumer’s purpose-driven, insight-led marketing strategy that has resonated deeply with Sri Lankan consumers. The company’s diverse brand portfolio, Zesta, Watawala, and Ran Kahata caters to three distinct consumer need segments, while its strong confectionery portfolio including Daintee, Milady, X-tra, and Daintee Hearts continues to dominate the Sri Lanka’s FMCG market.
The Asia Marketing Federation (AMF) is a regional collaboration platform uniting marketing associations across 18 Asian countries. SLIM, as a Board Member of the AMF, plays a key role in facilitating Sri Lankan representation at these international forums. Joint initiatives like the SLIM-Kantar People’s Awards highlight this strong connection between the two bodies and their shared mission to celebrate marketing excellence across Asia.
In May 2025, Sunshine Consumer Chief Marketing Officer Kavi Rajapaksha Deshapriya and Senior Brand Manager Nadee Manathunga travelled to China to present the company’s achievements directly to the AMF jury—showcasing how Sri Lankan brands can compete through creativity, strategy, and consumer relevance.
Kavi Rajapaksha Deshapriya said: “It is a proud moment for Sunshine to represent Sri Lanka at the AMF Awards. This opportunity allows us to share our purpose-led marketing approach and the spirit of Sri Lankan consumers with the rest of Asia.”
Sunshine Consumer Lanka CEO Anuruddha Aluvihare said: “At Sunshine, we believe in building brands that not only serve consumer needs but also uplift lives. This recognition by SLIM and the opportunity at AMF reflect the dedication of our teams and the deep trust our consumers have placed in us. It’s a privilege to showcase Sri Lanka’s marketing excellence on an international stage.”
SLIM President Prof. Dewasiri Jayantha said: “Sunshine Consumer has demonstrated strong consumer insight, strategic clarity, and impact across multiple categories. We are pleased to have them represent Sri Lanka on the AMF stage.”
SLIM also said Sunshine’s selection for AMF is a testament to these efforts in nurturing and spotlighting homegrown marketing talent.
