The North Western Provincial Office of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, successfully organised an awareness seminar on “Export Procedures, Costing and Pricing, and Financial Facilities” for potential export industries and entrepreneurs on 27 May 2026 at the District Secretariat Auditorium, Kurunegala
The program was designed to support the development of export-oriented enterprises in the North Western Province by enhancing their knowledge and capacity to enter international markets.
The primary objective of the seminar was to provide awareness and capacity building for small and medium-scale potential exporters and entrepreneurs, thereby facilitating their entry into export markets through improved understanding of export procedures, financial management, and available banking facilities.
The program brought together 59 SME companies and 16 Export Development Officers, creating a strong platform for knowledge sharing, awareness building, and technical guidance on export development.
The program featured two resource persons who shared their expertise and practical industry insights. Worldwide Logistics Lanka Ltd., Managing Director and Certified “Export Management Coach” Rienzie Cooray appointed by the International Trade Centre (ITC), delivered a comprehensive session on export procedures, documentation, and practical aspects of international trade operations. Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Exports Department Senior Manager Sumith Jayasena, provided valuable insights on export financing, payment terms in international trade, and financial solutions available for exporters.
Participants were provided with practical knowledge on export documentation requirements, costing and pricing strategies for export products, and financial instruments and banking support mechanisms that can facilitate export business operations.
The initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board to strengthen export capabilities at regional level through strategic collaboration with financial institutions. The partnership between the EDB and Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC further reinforces the commitment to supporting emerging exporters and enhancing their contribution to national export development.
