Ambeon appoints new Directors to Harischandra Mills Board

Majority shareholder Ambeon Essentials Ltd., a subsidiary of Ambeon Capital PLC, has appointed Dr. Sajeeva Narangoda (Executive Director), Former cricketer Aravinda de Silva (Non-Independent, Non-Executive Director), Savanth Sebastian (Independent, Non-Executive) and Sujeewa Mudalige (Independent Non-Executive) to the Board of Harischandra Mills PLC with effect from 12 May.

Dr. Sajeeva Narangoda is currently the Group CEO/Executive Director of Ambeon Holdings PLC and Ambeon Capital PLC, both listed conglomerates under the Colombo Stock Exchange. In addition, Dr. Narangoda serves as a Non-Executive Director on the respective Boards of Colombo City Holdings PLC, Eon Tec Ltd., Millennium I.T.E.S.P. Ltd., Taprobane Capital Plus Ltd., Lexinton Resorts Ltd., Sherwood Capital Ltd., Myland Developments PLC, Ambeon Essentials Ltd. and Sherwood Technologies Ltd.

His career includes serving Colombo City Holdings PLC as its Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC as its Chief Executive Officer, and Millennium IT ESP as its Executive Director. In addition, as a healthcare administrator, he was instrumental in establishing multiple private-sector hospitals in Sri Lanka under Hemas and Browns Group of companies.

He has been serving the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International (ACHSI) as an International Hospital Assessor since 2012 and as the Regional Representative for Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives from 2020.

Dr. Narangoda holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and a Master of Science (Finance and Management) from Keele University, UK. In addition, he is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) UK and a member of CPA Australia. As an international researcher, he has been an integral member of the research team at the International Research Collaborative – Health and Equity at the University of Western Australia, specialising in healthcare pricing, and has published several international research publications.

Former cricketer Aravinda de Silva is a forward-thinking investor and corporate leader, seamlessly translating his strategic mindset from the playing field to the boardroom.

de Silva’s journey began on the cricket pitch, where his natural talent and exceptional batting prowess earned him a revered place in international cricket history. Over a career spanning more than two decades, he played a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s emergence as a dominant force in the sport. His most iconic performance came during the 1996 Cricket World Cup final, where he became the only player to score a century and take three wickets in the match. His match-winning contributions in both the semi-final and final earned him Man of the Match honours, solidifying his legacy as one of the game’s greats. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he was inducted into the International Cricket Council (ICC) Hall of Fame in 2023.

After retiring from professional cricket, he transitioned into the world of business with remarkable insight and discipline. Drawing upon the same focus and determination that defined his sports career, de Silva began building a diversified investment portfolio characterised by innovation, long-term strategy and market foresight.

Through his family office, Arcasia Holdings, he invested in Ambeon Capital PLC, a diversified investment holding company. Ambeon is the parent company of Millennium I.T.E.S.P., a leading technology solutions provider with over 28 years of experience. Millennium I.T.E.S.P. serves a global clientele across diverse industries, including telecommunications, media, banking and finance, manufacturing, retail, healthcare and transportation, while supporting the digitalisation of Government institutions. Beyond these investments, he has specialised in identifying promising start-ups and pursuing mergers and strategic acquisitions. Ambeon Capital also has investments in financial services, commercial and residential real estate, food and essentials, and capital markets.

Through his family office, there are direct investments into automotive, real estate, warehousing and logistics.

Currently, he serves as Chairman of Arcasia Holdings, where he drives innovation and expansion directly across multiple verticals such as logistics, transport and the automotive sector. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the company’s growth trajectory and strengthening its market position.

Savanth Sebastian is an accomplished capital markets and investment professional with over fifteen years of experience spanning global markets, economic research, international trading, investment strategy and corporate governance.

He previously served at Commonwealth Bank of Australia as a Senior Economist within the Global Markets Research Team, where he advised Federal and State Governments, institutional investors, high-net-worth clients and key internal stakeholders, including Colonial First State and senior leadership teams across the bank.

Sebastian also held a senior role at Commonwealth Securities, the stockbroking division of Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he managed the international trading desk, facilitating transactions across 31 global markets. In this capacity, he oversaw Strategic Trading Accounts and supported the Treasury division of Commonwealth Bank of Australia in managing risk while identifying alternative revenue opportunities.

He brings a strong combination of economic insight, market expertise, investment acumen and board-level experience. His exposure across listed and private companies, investment holdings, financial services, agriculture, engineering and corporate development enables him to contribute effectively to strategic decision-making, governance, risk management and long-term business planning.

Sebastian holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Actuarial Studies and Finance from the University of New South Wales. He is also an Accredited Adviser of the Australian Securities Exchange and a Master Practitioner of the Stockbrokers and Investment Advisers Association.

He currently serves as a director across a diverse portfolio of listed and private companies, including Ambeon Capital PLC, Ambeon Holdings PLC, Millennium I.T.E.S.P. Ltd., Capital Metals PLC, Myland Developments PLC, Colombo City Holdings PLC, ICON Engineering Enterprises Ltd. and Good Earth Fertilizers Ltd.

Sujeewa Mudalige counts over 30 years of experience as a Chartered Accountant and recently retired as the Managing Partner of PwC Sri Lanka.

He currently serves as the Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Ambeon Capital PLC, Ambeon Holdings PLC, Millennium I.T.E.S.P. Ltd., and Sherwood Capital Ltd. He is also an Independent Non-Executive Director at other private and listed companies.

He has also served on many regulatory bodies including the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Board of Investment (BOI) and National Medicines Regulatory Agency (NMRA).

Mudalige has vast experience as an Audit Committee Chair in both public and private sector organisations. He is a past President of ICASL and has been a member of the Council of ICASL and of the governing board of CIMA UK, Sri Lanka Division, and held several such other positions locally and globally during the span of his career.

His qualifications are FCA (SL), FCMA (UK), FCCA (UK) and FCPA (Australia).

He was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Business by the University of Plymouth (UK), recognising his outstanding contribution to accounting and finance.
