AgStar appoints two Non-Executive Directors

Sanjaya Nissanka	Shamal Abeysinghe

AgStar PLC yesterday said it has appointed Sanjaya Nissanka and Shamal Abeysinghe as non-executive directors to its board.

Nissanka has over two decades of experience in the agricultural machinery and crop solutions sector. He is Cluster Chief Operating Officer for Agri and Heavy Equipment at Brown & Company PLC and Chief Executive Officer of Browns Agri Solutions Ltd.

He has overseen the introduction of brands such as Yanmar, Sumo World, TAFE Power, Himoinsa, Hyundai, Shakthiman and Fieldking to Sri Lanka. He is Vice President of the Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers and Suppliers Association of Sri Lanka. He holds an MBA in International Marketing from Anglia Ruskin University in the UK, a Diploma in Agriculture from the School of Agriculture, Dambulla, and other professional certifications in marketing.

Abeysinghe has 17 years of experience in agribusiness and is Chief Operating Officer at Browns Agri Solutions Ltd., a subsidiary of Brown & Company PLC, as well as AgStar Crop Care Ltd., AgStar Seeds Ltd. and Prith Seeds Ltd. He manages operations in crop protection, specialty fertilisers, hybrid seed production and agri-input marketing.

He holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, and a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK. Abeysinghe currently serves as Chairman of CropLife Sri Lanka and has previously been its Director and Treasurer.
