Abans PLC has appointed Buddhika Dharmawardene as its new Chief Executive Officer with effect from 20 August 2026.

Dharmawardene joined Abans PLC on 1 November 1999 and has over 26 years of experience with the Group. During his distinguished career with Abans, he has held several key positions, including Brand Manager, Deputy Director, Chief Marketing Officer, and Director of Operations, a position he assumed in March 2023.

He holds an MBA with a Merit Pass from the University of Wales, UK, and has completed Leadership Development – Executive Education at NUS Business School. Throughout his career at Abans, Dharmawardene has played a significant role in the Group’s business expansion, revenue growth, brand development and strategic initiatives.

In his most recent role as Director of Operations, he was instrumental in driving significant business growth and strengthening the Group’s operations. His extensive experience across marketing, brand management and operations, together with his in-depth knowledge of the Abans Group and its businesses, positions him well to lead Abans PLC in his new capacity as Chief Executive Officer.
