THASL members open to offer hotels for quarantine, medical staff

The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) said today its members were willing to house those who were subject to two weeks of quarantine at remote locations as well as medical staff who were unable to get home after work.

In a statement, THASL said its members had been following with deep appreciation the strenuous efforts made by the Government to contain the new coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and that the Association was willing to work with the membership to offer selected hotel facilities in the battle against preventing the spread of new coronavirus. The members said they were willing to house those who are subject to two weeks of quarantine at remote locations. In addition, THASL has come forward to house medical staff who are working around the clock who are unable to get home after their work shifts.

The number of rooms will depend on the demand but it will help maintain the wellbeing of this important staff performing an yeoman service to the nation at this crucial time.

THASL said it stood ready to support the Government’s efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and supporting the wider community, especially healthcare professionals, at a time when they need it most.
