The Government today decided curfew in the north will not be lifted and will continue indefinitely.
The President’s Media Division releasing a statement said all districts in the north would not have curfew lifted on Friday morning at 6 a.m. as announced earlier.
The statement further said this decision was taken given the current situation in the area and the possibility of COVID-19 spread.
Earlier this week the military established a separate quarantine centre in Jaffna to house 17 people who had come into contact with a pastor who was diagnosed with COVID-19.
Curfew in areas that were lifted at 6 a.m. today will be re-imposed at 2 p.m. Curfew in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara will also continue indefinitely.
