Govt. to scale up PCR tests to 1,000 daily

Four private hospitals are to support the Government to conduct more Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests daily, to scale up the number of tests done to 1,000.

The PCR tests done by the private hospitals will be in addition to the 800 conducted daily by the State health sector.

This will allow the health sector to expand their testing to over 1,000 tests a day, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

With the growing number of COVID-19 infected persons, the Government sought support from private hospitals to carry out PCR tests and met with representatives of Asiri Hospitals, Nawaloka Hospitals, Durdans Hospital, and Lanka Hospitals today.
