Eight new COVID-19 patients brings total cases to 596

Eight new people were diagnosed with COVID-19 today, the Health Ministry said, resulting in the total number climbing to 596.

Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that five of the eight were Navy personnel from the Welisara Navy Camp. The remainder were from those quarantined at the Punani quarantine centre.

A total of 134 people have recovered and been discharged.
