COVID-19 recovery climbs to 47, total cases 189

Five recoveries over the past 24 hours has increased the number of recovered patients to 47 as the total number of cases remained at 189, the Epidemiology Unit said today.

The number of active patients is 135. According to the situation report by the Epidemiology Unit, of the total confirmed cases, 44 are from the Colombo District, 34 are from Puttalam, and 26 are from Kalutara.

The report also states that 92 of the active cases are at the National Institute for Infectious Diseases (NIID), 27 are at the Colombo East Base Hospital, and 16 are at the Welikanda Base Hospital.

Five recoveries from the NIID were also reported within the 24-hour period, bringing the total recoveries to 47. At present, a total of 242 suspect patients remain hospitalised, including 40 at the Homagama Base Hospital, 25 at the Ragama Teaching Hospital, 21 at the Welikanda Base Hospital, and 16 at the Kalutara District General Hospital.

One COVID-19 death, a 44-year-old resident of Mount Lavinia, occurred last night, bringing the total count to seven.
