On the 20th edition of the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability (BCCS) Award, hosted by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, it brings me immense pride to witness the remarkable strides made by Sri Lankan corporations in embracing sustainability practices over the years. This year’s ceremony witnessed a record-breaking number of applications, signifying the growing importance and commitment of Sri Lankan corporations towards sustainability initiatives.

The BCCS Award, originally conceptualised two decades ago to promote Corporate Social Responsibility, has evolved to emphasise sustainability across the three pillars: Planet, People, and Profit. In line with this evolution, the competition evaluates companies based on key sustainability parameters including environmental stewardship, customer and community relations, governance, financial performance, and economic contribution. The rigorous evaluation process is overseen by national experts in the sustainability sector.

At the heart of the BCCS Awards is the belief that corporate leadership plays a vital role in driving sustainable practices. Through initiatives like these, the Ceylon Chamber aims to inspire businesses to integrate sustainability into their core strategies, thereby fostering positive impacts on society and the environment.

The success of the BCCS Awards would not have been possible without the dedication of our Panel of Evaluators and Panel of Judges, led by Rathika de Silva and Chiyo Kanda respectively, as well as Azam Bakeer Markar who led the evaluations for the Best Projects Sustainability Awards.

Congratulations to all the winners of the BCCS Award 2023. It’s heartening to see the positive impact that corporate leadership can have in driving sustainable practices. Together, we can continue to make a difference and create a brighter, more sustainable future for generations

to come.
